Jefferson Regional Medical Center opened its doors in 1977 as
the South Hills Health System. It was renamed Jefferson
Regional Medical Center in 2002. Jefferson Hospital, the
flagship component, is the result of the 1973 merger of St. Joseph
and Homestead Hospitals.
Jefferson Hospital offers approximately 380 licensed beds for
acute care, rehabilitation, psychiatric, and cardiovascular- thoracic
care. More than 350 physicians, in 38 specialties, pass an arduous
credentialing process to become a member of the Medical Staff at
Jefferson Hospital. The Heart Institute at Jefferson
Regional Medical Center provided comprehensive
cardiovascular-thoracic care, from interventional and preventive
procedures, to open heart surgeries and cardiac rehabilitation.
